Mindfulness in Spring

The change in seasons can be an excellent practice in mindfulness. Spring is upon us. Are you pausing in your morning, lunch or day to notice the new growth? The beauty of flowers is something most any of us will stop to pause and admire. But how about an intentional pause. To be walking somewhere and decide to pause for one minute. To take in what you might not have seen, the hidden beauty of nature emerging in spring.

Tara Brach, a Psychologist, Author, and Mindfulness Meditation Teacher shared:

Stepping out of the busyness, stopping our endless pursuit of getting somewhere else, is perhaps the most beautiful offering we can make to our spirit.

Can you leave 5 minutes early for work to school to make time for an intentional pause?

When we take time to pause, a few things happen. We bring ourselves into the present moment, noticing where we are and what we are doing. By taking time to pause and look around, we are noticing more beauty around us. As the body and mind slows down, this in turn affects our nervous system, helping to bring balance and ease to the body and its systems.

In sum, taking time to pause is not only beautiful but it is good for you.
