There is so much on a parent’s plate: Are my kids eating healthy? Do they have too much screen time? What will the school year be like during Covid-19? Are we being safe and protective against Covid-19?
The idea of Mindful Parenting can feel like, an ideal, goal to embody but hard to maintain and keep practicing – especially in those stressed and tired moments. Have a restless night of sleep? Or maybe your job is more time consuming or stressful than usual? It is not easy being a Mindful Parent. It takes continued practice and dedication, especially in the toughest of times.
So what is Mindful Parenting? Mindful Parenting is being present in the moment as you parent your child. It is becoming aware of your own emotions and feelings as you talk with your child. It is the practice of not reacting but pausing and being thoughtful in your response. Mindful Parenting does not require you to have a calm voice all the time. It does not mean being passive or not reacting to something done or said by your child. It is becoming aware of your words and actions when you do talk with your child.
Learn more about Mindful Parenting in our upcoming workshop on Sunday, October 18th: 5pm EST/2pm PST. In this one hour workshop, you will learn simple steps you can take to being a more mindful parent. There will be a Q&A and community discussion at the end of the workshop. Learn more here.
