Peace Adventures

Each week children partake in a mix of mindfulness activities, games and movement. Children will learn about mindfulness through their senses: mindful listening, seeing, eating, and touch. Movement activities include kickball, hiking, yoga and more! There is a theme each week and learnings are shared so you can practice at home and in the community. 

Children will gain valuable skills in learning to pause, breathe and how to be mindful inside and out.

Unless the weather is really bad, we will enjoy the outdoors each week with games and mindfulness activities. Fun learning!


DAILY SCHEDULE


2:30-3pm Arrival & snack time

3:20-4:45pm: Mindfulness & Movement (outside activities weather dependent)
4:45- 5:30pm: Homework help and creative mindful activities
5-5:30pm: Pick up


Why Mindfulness + Peace Adventures


What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is paying attention to what is happening around you and inside you, noticing things with kindness and no judgment. In learning mindfulness, we gain skills we can use the rest of our lives. 

Outdoor Fun + Emotional Intelligence Learnings!

Each week we will explore mindfulness and movement in Inwood Hill Park (weather permitting). Students will learn to pay attention to their breath and how to notice their surroundings through their senses. Parents and caregivers will receive weekly learnings so that they can continue to practice mindfulness at home and in our community.

More Calm, Less Stress

Our world is changing quickly. Children (and adults) need tools to help them cope with anxiety and stressful situations. Mindfulness is a lifelong tool. Research shows that mindfulness can help decrease anxiety, improve sleep, increase focus and attention, regulate emotions and enhance relationships.

    meet THe Teacher

    Jen has been teaching mindfulness and movement for the past 8 years to children in NYC and across the United States. She is a Certified Mindfulness Instructor from Mindful Schools, Certified Kids Yoga Instructor from Yogi Beans, and Certified Integrative Health Coach from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. 


    Jen believes in infusing fun into learning and is eager to share mindfulness with individuals of all ages. Positivity, connection and calm is what Jen embodies in her time (work and play) with kids. An avid yoga practitioner, meditator, kickboxer, biker, hiker and camper, she is excited to bring movement and fun to kids in uptown NYC!

    Cancellation Policy

    Full refunds will be given up to one week before the start of the program or if registration is cancelled by Awareness of Mind/Peace Adventures. Full refunds available up to two weeks before the first day of the program. There is a $75 fee for cancellation requests made in the two weeks before the first day of the program. If cancellation is requested during the first week of class, a refund will be made in the total amount paid minus $100. After the first week of class, there will be no refunds. 

    Covid-19

    Awareness of Mind/Peace Adventures follows CDC guidelines and NYC DOE guidelines. Teachers are fully vaccinated. Students are encouraged to test after school holiday breaks before our next session.
